SHAVING YOUR FACE

Razor bumps referred to as Pseudofolliculitis barbae is a relatively common problem with African American Men. Due to the curvy nature of African American's hair follicles, the hair will grow inward in a curved needle fashion. This causes inflammation of the skin, as well as tiny inflamed pustules. Treating this condition can be difficult, sufferers can grow a new beard but for the man who wants to maintain a well-groomed appearance, this is not an option.

Factors that contribute to razor bumps are stretching and pulling the skin taut during shaving. This causes the short hair to retrieve back beneath the skin surface. When the sharp tip re-penetrates the skin, it pierces the hair follicle wall, which in turn cause razor bumps.
